…ident H.R. Clinton could name activist Monica Lewinsky to a feminist task force. Imagine the union: Young and old, single and married, brunette and blond, marginalized and powerful, Jewish and Gentile, childless and grandmotherly, girlfriend and wife. As the Facebook groups have taught me, these distinctions don’t belong to women. They are borders drawn on our experience by a colonial power, a power that is lumbering and burned out, where we are nimble, organized and right on time.
…fference to female experience — and only after internal radicalization was I able to hit my stride. I just saw Bill speak at a fundraiser for Hillary and I realized he’s the exile now: aging, unwell, shoring up old victories like Ozymandias, his authority literally impeached. And Hillary and Monica both now speak eloquently for my experience, and the experience of all people who’ve had to—not to get dramatic and/or jargony, but what the hay—work around the white man’s hegemony to find themselves and their callings.
