The hotel, which was known for hosting dignitaries, celebrities, and presidents, was sold in the 1960s.

A resident of Los Angeles, Julia Cominos draws upon 20 years of business development experience in her role as a strategic advisor to start-up ventures and emerging companies. Julia Cominos has deep roots in Salinas, where her family ran a renowned hotel.

After her grandfather immigrated to the United States from Greece, he worked in the hospitality industry. Initially, he joined Hotel Del Monte, where he gained in-depth knowledge about the hotel business. Years later, he and his brothers purchased the Abbott House Hotel and changed its name to The Cominos Hotel.

For over four decades, they operated the hotel as a family business. Julia Cominos’ father worked at the hotel as a teenager. He served in roles ranging from bell boy and waiter to garage attendant and clerk.

The hotel, which was known for hosting dignitaries, celebrities, and presidents, was sold in the 1960s. After suffering severe damage during the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989, the hotel was decimated.
