The new Netflix documentary about love and murder
The brutal murders of Derek and Nancy Haysome in 1985 in their Virginia home is the starting point for the new Netflix series about a love story gone wrong.
Derek Haysom was a prominent figure of his community as the former president and chairman of the Sydney Steel Corporation (Sysco). The four-part Netflix series, Till Murder Do Us Part: Soering vs. Haysom, depicts the brutal stabbings and the media frenzy that ensued as a result. The Haysom’s were found with their throats cut, and their home revealed a chaotic scene. The floors were painted red with the couples’ blood, appearing as if someone had dragged their bodies around the home post-mortem to purposefully create the gory masterpiece.
The couples’ daughter, Elizabeth Haysom was attending the University of Virignia at the time of her parents’ death. She had been dating German diplomat, Jens Soering, who college friends described as a person you wouldn’t want to associate with. Suspicions…
