Fear is a funny one. I guess if we get the definition right I will avoid misinterpreting. Fear in the dictionary is defined as: “an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain or harm”. The words that stuck in my eyes like swords were “unpleasant emotion”, “danger”, “pain” and “harm”. We go through unpleasant emotions daily. Some are sporadic while others are continuous.
Healthy fear are fear that can be rectified with actions. These are healthy fears that drive immediate change/action and is the inner force within to thrive and become better than EVERY yesterday. Examples of these would be innovation, diligence, running away from predator etc. However, continuous fear is what we should avoid and clinically termed — anxiety. These are the things that we cannot change with actions and in the long run “cause us pain” which leads to a vicious cycle of fear. Examples of these will be afraid of losing what we craddle (c’mon! we all hold things that are dear to us). These can be fame, power, fortune or that gorgeous lad or gal in our arms. The key to unlocking these continuous fears is the art of “Letting go”. Letting things take their natural path of progression.
Because lets face it, in the long run, YOU WILL LOSS EVERYTHING, King Alexander did when he died…why are we any different? But during this lifetime, we should let go of fearing of losing them. What ever that is destined to be ours in this lifetime will continue to linger. And those that are destined not will never remain for long despite our attempts to gain them. So don’t treasure things too much. Materialistic things are destined to become ash and dust according the physics law of atomic degredation. Don’t go crazy over them…
