Poem: Is this what philosophers do?

If you watch rain fall
into a lake for enough time,
you might see a pattern form
of dots and rings.
Watch a little longer
and you might see the pattern
go away.

Do you think the rain drop
is happier alone
in freefall
or with the others
in the lake?

If you think on your body
at the smallest level
you might see it as a
complex machine with
many workers.
Think a little longer and
you might wonder how
to find the soul.

Do you think your heart and lungs
gloat to your brain?
Or do they tip their hats
when they pass each other
on their way to work?

Are you more like the rain
or the lake?
Are you more like the body
or the soul?

Do you think it matters?

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
