I threw together a website to share crypto notes — www.whitepapernotes.com

For the last few months I’ve been meeting up with friends to read and discuss white papers. When everyone shows up, I notice a common pattern. We all have streams of highlighted terms and phrases on our printouts that we don’t quite understand. Generally, we spend a few minutes trying to clarify these terms of concepts amongst each other, but we often have to follow up by digging into google or reddit to find an “explain like I’m 5” post to help us out. I personally end up with tons of browser windows open and sometimes lose sight of the paper I was initially reading.

Although I don’t mind this process, I feel like it’d be annoying for newcomers into the space, so I threw together this site for a few hours with the hope that we can share our notes and explanations via annotations on white papers.

Click on a highlighted term to see its annotations

The site isn’t fancy nor is it meant to be, but it’s easy to use.

How it works

If you use RapGenius, you should get this right away. If you don’t, get started by clicking on a term that’s highlighted to see its annotation (use the pic above for reference). Feel free to upvote or downvote annotations or provide your own version of an annotation. To annotate a new term just highlight it and you should see an annotate button pop up as shown below:

Highlight and click “annotate” to contribute an annotation

For now I’m just uploading white papers on my own. Feel free to send requests to (requests@whitepapernotes.com) and I’ll upload those white papers. I’m going to try and upload as many papers as I can along with my notes and explanations for those papers. I’m sure I’ll be off and missing a ton of stuff so I’d love your help. Please add annotations, correct me where I’m wrong or join the discussion. This site is free and meant to stay that way, so rest assured that your contributions won’t end up behind a paywall.

Lastly, if you know someone who wants to “dig into crypto more” but feels intimidated, send this site to them and maybe they’ll have an easier time getting up to speed. Overall, I think the more we share in this space, the better.
