I’m also a low-income, first generation student and I can’t even begin to express how much I relate to this. I can’t justify not doing an assignment, or not sacrificing things for my grades. It seems as if it is an obligation to not only care, but to get the grades expected by my educators, parents, and most of all myself. I loved that you mentioned that yes, there are college drop-outs who have accomplished great things, but that they were unlike you, and unlike me. Privilege goes a long way in the U.S. I admire your sincerity!
