I guess Iceland is a country where everybody wanted to go even once in a lifetime, but I wouldn’t survive here if I’d stay for a long time :)

Mountains, beautiful green landscapes, ocean, black beaches, waterfalls, but it’s sooo cold.

The weather in Iceland is really awful. We went there last summer in June and usually it was very cold and raining all day long, like +7 during the day, imagine how it feels in the evening (:

So here is our story…

We bought cheap tickets from Poland ( wizz.air ), packed our bags and went exploring the country of a dream for one week. Me (in the middle), my boyfriend Taras and a girl Ira which I met on a forum when I was looking for a people to join us.

As everybody knows, Iceland is quite expensive, so we decided to buy a checked baggage as wizz.air is a lowcost airline and it wasn’t included in price and we took plenty of food with us .

( but in the end it still was not enough for one week :P )

So we rented a car ( AVIS) at the airport and thats where our journey starts!

We spent a night in Reykjavik and the next day decided to start with a Golden Circle. The first stop was Þingvellir national park.

And already here you can spot the first waterfall and you gonna see a lot of them during your time in Iceland. You need to save like 1–3 hours to walk here and enjoy the beauty of the nature.

After national park we took a short ride to Geyser at Haukadalur. It’s a geothermal area where you can wait for like 10–15 min and see an eruption of a hot geyser. By the way, it’s quite popular place and usually packed with tourists so keep in mind :)
Unfortunately I don’t have photo at the moment of eruption, but here is one, just to have imagination how this place looks like.

The next stop was one of the most popular waterfalls in Iceland — Gullfoss Falls. It looks really massive. A lot of people say that it’s the most beautiful waterfall in the whole Iceland, but as for me there are still other waterfalls that will impress you even more. Just wait for it :)

And the last stop of the day was Kerið Crater Lake. That’s the only place where we paid for the entrance (400 isk = 3.2 eur). But for sure it‘s totally worth it and for Iceland it’s not even a money.

The lake is located inside of a volcanic caldera, has a clear blue colour so the view is stunning. You can sit and enjoy it for a while. Quite beautiful end of the day. And small tip: if you have an option, take a thermos bottle with you as even summer in Iceland is cold, so it’s really gonna help you to warm up :)

And that’s it for the first day. I promise, you’ll be impressed, so rest up and keep your energy for tomorrow.
