This has been linked to less production of cortisol, a stress hormone. When people cohabitate, obviously with the positive traits that I have been talking about, they are affected less psychologically by stress than, that of a person living on their own. Being able to share and communicate your concerns, worries, dreams and goals is a great buffer to the positive management of stress.

Whether it be having someone who shares with you various aspects of being healthy. For example: foods to eat, medicines to take, encouragement with physical activities, going out, meeting people. Research has found that married people who have undergone heart surgery are three times more likely to survive the first three months after surgery than single patients. Married patients also reported feeling more confident about their ability to handle post-surgery pain and were less worried about the surgery in general.
