I think it’s really interesting to consider the accessibility of scientific information. The current methods of communicating through journals is slow and often only for the highest tier of the educated, alienating a large portion of people. Even people who would be interested by the information being presented are dissuaded by the levels of jargon and cost of access. I don’t think it impedes innovation to change the way the information is presented to the general public; in fact, I also agree it helps promote the forward movement of science without leaving anyone behind.
