Growing up in the vibrant Southgate neighbourhood of Enfield, Amy Winehouse’s journey through school and music began at Southgate School and later, Ashmole School.

Her parents’ eclectic taste in music, ranging from Carole King to James Taylor and jazz classics, laid the foundation for her early musical exploration.

At just 10 years old, Amy and a friend kicked off a short-lived rap duo named Sweet and Sour.

By 12, she was already immersing herself in the world of performing arts at the Sylvia Young Theatre School.

But it was at 16, through her close friend Tyler James, a soul singer, that Amy’s musical ambitions gained momentum.

Tyler stumbled upon her demo, igniting the spark that would set her on the path to becoming the iconic artist we know today.
