Super interesting take Meg, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I do agree on the core message that it benefits more people with privilege than people with marginalized identities, which should not be the outcome at all.
From what I understand in your article, your group has their eyes opened doing the privilege walk, right? When I did it as participant, we all had blindfolds so it became more of an inner experience reflecting on our own privilege, and less of a game of “who’s got more”. We did remove the blindfolds at the very end so we could see who stood where, but not for which reasons. What are your thoughts on this variant?
And to me the sharing circle is by part the most powerful part, I would not feel comfortable facilitating it without this space to open up thoughts and emotions to the group.
