I don’t buy into the supposed threat of nuclear annihilation that might happen if the US and Russia don’t find some closer relationship with each other.

The US and Russia are both violent regimes and have been for as long as they have existed.

As an American, this is what I and many other people with no party affiliation (I’m not a Dem, I’m not a Republican) work against.

Forming any pact with Russia means that something will be gained in the stronger player (Putin) and something will be lost with the weaker player (Trump).

This does not bode well for the US. It puts us at risk to further manipulation and sabotage under a leader who is happy to make deals to enhance his gilded bubble.

All Trump knows how to do is how to hawk the Trump name. He is a brilliant brand marketer.

But brand marketers don’t build or grow anything. They don’t make value judgments based on what’s good for “the consumer” (citizen); their only goal is to increase their own margins and make more money.

On top of it, he’s not even that smart or good at it; a lot of his branded products have been shit (Trump University, Trump steaks, Trump casinos, etc)

But Putin is a thinker, a Machiavellian one. And he’s brilliant at it.

Joining these two strengthens Putin much more than it strengthens the US and/or democratic ideals.

It’s not good for America nor the rest of the world. It might benefit Syria who can at long last get a break from being the proxy battlefield in the “brand wars” between Russia and the US and the Arab and Iranian states.

The only winners I see in all this, though, are Putin and China.

But safer? No, we’re not safer.
