John Ferguson

John Ferguson is not one to shy away from the spotlight. John has often been the center of attention, as his unusual physical appearance brought eyes from all angles. He has since been able to use his difference to entertain millions online and bring smiles to people’s faces around the world. John is a 23-year old social media influencer who’s been able to grow his following to over 1.5 million people. He continues to grow every day and has no intention of slowing down.

During his short three years on social media, John has been able to collaborate with macro influencers including Logan Paul, Roman Atwood, Brent Rivera, NFL star Chase Claypool, and others to develop content seen by millions. He now stars in Snapchat shows “Gangster Granny”, “Body Shop”, “Grandma’s House”, and “Viral Animals’’ receiving over 10 million views on each episode.

In this interview, he shares advice to those looking to be social media influencers.

If someone would want to emulate your career, what would you suggest are the most important things to do?

Start as soon as possible, with social media “influencers” becoming more and more of a career, the competition is only going to increase and the industry is going to become more and more saturated with people just like you who want to make a career out of making content online. With that said, be patient while waiting for success. It is very rare to go viral on your first, second, or even 50th video. Your time will come and if you continue to produce unique content that others find entertaining, you will succeed in this industry. Also, try and reach out to as many creators as possible to collaborate with. The more you collaborate, the more people see your page and the more followers you gain.

What are the most exciting projects you are working on now?

I’m currently working on a couple of ongoing projects that I’m excited about and excited to share. I’ve been working on the Snapchat Show “Body Shop” with my good friend Ross Smith. The first episode released in June and episodes will continue to release throughout the year. We’ve already gained over 600 thousand subscribers and it continues to grow. The premise of the show is to showcase some of the most talented and unique people in the world. It’s amazing to meet all different types of people who have amazing talents.

I’m also working on my first podcast with another good friend Sam Replogle. We interview some of the most interesting people on the internet! The first couple episodes included Chelcie Lynn and Evan Eckenrode.

How will you continue to grow and succeed?

The main thing I will focus on in order for me to continue my growth and success is to stay level headed and hungry. I won’t ever be satisfied with what I have and my level of success I want to attain will keep increasing. As soon as you’re comfortable with where you are, that’s when you become less motivated and in this industry specifically, less relevant. I will continue collaborating with the funniest and most talented in the industry, and I’ll keep growing my brand on different social media platforms. The social media world is still very new and will only continue to grow and evolve, and I’m ready to take that ride for years to come.

If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?

The main piece of advice I have for someone starting out in the entertainment industry and specifically those who are making videos on social media is to never worry about what people think. There is so much hate and negativity out there on social media and as soon as you let it affect you, it’ll affect the growth and success of your career. There will always be people who want to bring you down, but you should only use that as motivation to keep going and become an even better person.
