TikTok just launches in 2016, on the other hand, Instagram launched in 2010, and Youtube in 2005. Amazingly TikTok climbed up the social media ladder through the top 5 defeating Twitter and Snapchat.

What is TikTok?

TikTok is a popular social media app that allows users to create, watch, and share 15–60second videos shot on mobile devices or webcams. With its personalized feeds of quirky short videos set to music and sound effects, the app is notable for its addictive quality and high levels of engagement.

Amateur and professional creators alike can add effects like filters, background music, and stickers to their videos, and can collaborate on content and create split-screen duet videos even if they’re in different locations.

How TikTok Win The Industry

TikTok made creator and business create content and push it to virality. I think that made TikTok users grow rapidly. TikTok has 1 billion active users per month as of today, which is 1/8 of humans alive.

The social media industry is all about screen time, how you win your user to as long as they could stay on your media. There’s a theory that the name TikTok itself represents the sound of the ticking time. The algorithm itself did a great job to make you stay on TikTok, my personal experience is that the TikTok algorithm changes from time to time depending on your interest today not the accumulation of what you watch since you use TikTok.

Tiktok itself doesn’t scared of the competition and keeps growing at a rapid speed. They launch many products recently such as TikTok Shop, Live, and so many filters. The filters themselves seem interesting that not just a face changed also many filters include games which make using it makes more interesting.

TikTok Problems

There are some problems that TikTok has been faced such as banned from some countries, America being one of them, and TikTok spending around $ 5.7 million. And besides losing money TikTok also must give the shares to Oracle and Walmart to stay in the US market.

From my perspective, I think the problems that TikTok would be faced in the future are policy and competition among other social media and eCommerce. The biggest threat to TikTok might be Youtube and Amazon.

First, Youtube gives Ad Sense for their creator to maintain this creator keep making content on their platform, and nowadays many TV brands have built-in Youtube TV application.

TikTok Evolve

TikTok gives so many advantages to the brand from its product such as virality and the algorithm itself the FYP as a home page I think is genius. They create a platform in which everyone could be shown on any one home page without considering their followers, which makes anyone who creates content that great will be goes viral. From that point of view as a brand owner, it’s a weight off my shoulder to make more awareness and just focus on creating good content.

TikTok is also known as a perfect “ youngsters social media.” TikTok considers an entertainment platform, not a social platform. That makes comparing to Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook doesn’t relevant.

How TikTok be a Game Changer

Besides entertaining its user, TikTok nowadays starts creating huge revenue streams such as gifts for creators, TikTok ads, and TikTok Shop. We don’t know yet what is the future product of TikTok to create more revenue, maybe an influencer marketplace? Gifts themselves give TikTok $75 Million in revenue, and ads give TikTok $10 Billion. And that’s huge in comparison with Facebook generates $27 Billion in revenue from ads.

Let’s see from the market POV, every human in this world is given 24 hours per day, let’s say we spend 8 hours of sleep each day, and 8 hours of work, that gives only 8 more hours to do something else. We spent let’s say getting ready, eating, and spending time on roads is around 2 hours each day, with only 6 hours left for any applications to take time from us. Based on fortune average time spent on TikTok is around 1.5 hours each day, that’s a quarter of the available time each day.

The market of any applications is based on time spent on their platform, and there’s a huge competition because you’re not only competing with another platform you also compete with events, amusement parks, cinemas, and many other time-consuming on-site activities.

From the data shown, as a brand owner, I would prefer creating content on the winning platform than the number 2 or 3 except, my niche is on the other platform.
