We’re excited to announce that JUMP will be doubling its fleet of e-bikes in San Francisco. Riders can expect to see 250 additional bikes on the streets starting today. SFMTA’s decision to expand our fleet to 500 bikes reflects both our constructive working relationship with San Francisco and the local demand for more JUMP bikes. We are grateful to our city partners and encouraged that their report cited JUMP’s commitment to regulatory compliance, system usage, and public feedback.
Since the pilot launched in January, San Franciscans have enthusiastically adopted shared e-bikes. The pilot data shows that over 38,000 unique riders have taken more than 326,000 total trips.
This translates to the average JUMP bike in SF being used 8 to 10 times a day.
Overall, the JUMP e-bike system has performed remarkably well — helping to shift riders out of cars and onto bikes in an important step towards reducing congestion on our city’s streets while providing an inexpensive, reliable and equitable transportation option.
We look forward to continuing our partnership with the the city and assess the effect of the expansion on bike demand. We soon hope to expand our service area and include more parts of San Francisco in order to ensure geographic equity.
Thank you to our city partners and to you, our riders, for helping us double down on e-bikes in San Francisco!
