Project Integration Management

The Report 2015 Pulse of the Profession Capturing the Value of Project Management by PMI was mentioned in the What Went Right section, of the 8th Edition of the book. According to PMI “Their rigorous approach to project, program and portfolio management improve their ability to execute and strategy and creates a competitive advantage.” By being rigorous on the project, program and portfolio management is a good idea to not fail and to produce good products or good work results. They must do their corresponding jobs or distributed responsibilities in order to finish the project on time and to execute the project management plan successfully because most of the time on a project is usually spent on execution. According to PMI it helps them to improve their ability to execute and strategy because those who will do the work should plan the work. If who’s the one in charge with a particular task then that same person should also be the one will make or think about the plan. It is a good practice to the team members and also for the project manager in developing project management plans to make their execution easy or convenient. They prioritize it and they also determined whether it will not or it will benefit the organization. Lastly, from what I read on the book, project managers and their teams did often remembered if how well they executed a project and handled when difficult situations arise. There’s always be a time that things can go wrong on a project, but it is good to have an understanding and supportive PM. I think that the best way to overcome this situation is the team work and also for the team members should do the work properly and with honesty as well as the project managers. Also by loving the work or job because one of the best way to do a great work is to love what we do.

These are some of the specific steps organization can take to provide a supportive culture for project management.

*Strong leadership and a supportive organizational culture are crucial during project execution. Project managers must lead by example to demonstrate the importance of creating good project plans and then following them in project execution. Project managers often create plans for things they need to do themselves. If project managers follow through on their own plans, their team members are more likely to do the same.

Project Managers should be a good role model for his/her team members. He/She should demonstrate the importance of creating a good project and every steps or job must do properly because what leaders do reflects on the team members.

* Supportive organizational culture, project managers may sometimes find it necessary to break the rules to produce project results in a timely manner.

Project managers thought it may be also helpful to break the rules to produce result in a timely manner. They’re implementing rules but at the same time breaking the rules though they’re the one who made it.
