Though the gun was used to kill over 6,000 women by their partners as stated above, it was not the cause of the desire to kill. How many would have been beaten, stabbed, drowned in their bathtub, thrown from a window instead will never be known but women have been killed in these ways also. We do not call for the removal of stairways, second stories, baseball bats yet we focus our energies on guns. What we need is to separate the gun from the crime in our minds. We need to find ways to help people to remove themselves from destructive relationships. Both the aggressor and the passive participant.
