Active calendaring takes effort, but it always give me a greater sense of control over week. If you find that you rarely add or decline events to your calendar, it’s usually a signal that you’re being too passive with how you’re spending your time.

I love this tip a lot. I usually block 30 minutes on Sunday evening to plan out my week, but I rarely review the meetings I have on my calendar. I’ll take a more active approach in actively reviewing my calendar and optimizing if possible.

I prefer to review on Sunday evening because my personality type loves to hit the ground running as soon as I’m on my laptop. I reserve weekday mornings for pure creation: I try to avoid news, social media, and emails until later in the afternoon when I’m ready to be bombarded by external forces.

Sometimes it’s hard to do, especially during this presidential election, but I’ve found I’m more creative and productive in the mornings.
