BROKEN FUTURE

(A poem)

There she is…

Look at her;

She sits there;
Only those few moments has stolen to rest,
But her mind in sorrow,
Contemplating on who she would have been in life
*****
He Future destroyed;
By those who gave her life,
They could’ve sent her to college
But they sent her to marriage
*****
Regret;
A pain in her heart,
A memory she can’t escape,
Caught up in this trap.
*****
Her dignity is lost;
To some man of the past,
Forced on her,
And they say it’s tradition
******
Little girl wonders;
"My peers are in uniforms;
Holding pen learning to become nurses,"
While she holds broom learning to be a wife.

*****

She is the same girl we talk of everyday,

The one who could have been the greatest lawyer

But turned into a breeder;

She is the girl of a broken future.
