Some good stuff debated here. Ultimately, I think if Melo leaves on his own, it’ll be a major stain on his legacy. Him leaving NY would be tantamount to Lebron leaving Cleveland again. And Melo has shown he cares about his brand and his image. So him demanding a trade comes down to 2 things in my mind — a) the Knicks not doing enough this summer to win 40 games next yr or b) the guard play not improving enough. Melo has done his part to show his commitment to the rebuild. 2 years from now, if the Knicks haven’t improved, he’ll just stay and collect his money like other stars on bloated contracts have done.
