A monthly update on life in Austin, Texas.

Compared to Seattle, schools in Texas begin their academic year earlier, and the boys are set to start their classes next week.

To mark the occasion, a brief retrospective of June and July.

Father’s Day

Being a father entails a significant amount of both effort and enjoyment. However, aside from Allie, these boys stand out as the most cherished aspect of my life.

Father’s Day at Church

Allie pleasantly surprised me by gifting us tickets for the boys and me to attend our inaugural Austin FC match, and we really enjoyed cheering them on and making memories together.

Texas Sun

The boys remained active, and collectively, we are gradually adapting to endure the renowned Texan sun. A significant focus has been directed towards ensuring the boys become at ease in the water, leading to a lot of swim lessons and time in the pool.

More recently, Allie observed that the concrete surrounding the pool reached temperatures exceeding 110 degrees, prompting us to learn, often the hard way, the necessity of keeping our slippers conveniently nearby to the poolside.

The boys had a blast at soccer summer camp and are eagerly anticipating the start of the upcoming fall soccer season, which will hopefully be a bit cooler than it is now.

Cruising Lake Austin and Waterparks

One of the highlights of my summer was the delightful experience of cruising across Lake Austin with Captain Riggs and our family.

During the trip, we had the opportunity to admire exquisitely designed homes, including one owned by an Austin FC owner, against the backdrop of the stunning lake scenery.

Allie maintained an effortless beauty throughout, while the boys thoroughly enjoyed the thrill of speed and the freedom to leap off the boat once we located a suitable anchoring spot.

Much to our surprise, Theo took a liking to the journey and exhibited genuine joy as long as he was securely nestled in my arms during the cruise.

Lastly, we seized the chance to visit a nearby water park, which turned out to be an incredibly enjoyable day. Witnessing the boys’ courage as they soared down the tubes and bravely leaped from a towering 30-foot rock wall filled us with delight.

Until next time y’all,

Justin
