Pakistan — From Independence to the War of 1972


Pakistan, the land of multiethnic population belonging to the eastern part of Subcontinent. Once Pakistan was a part of British India and it was officially separated on 14th of August 1947. Becoming a new state based on Islamic Democracy Pakistan rises as a great nation among Muslim countries. Pakistan has a rich culture based on different values. Being a part of India once a large amount of ethnic groups migrated from both parts of the country.


Karachi was declared as the capital city of Pakistan right after the Independence but due to some strategic values it was shifted to a new city formed in 1960 called Islamabad. Pakistan is divided into four major Provinces administrated by federal government in the capital city, Islamabad.

Pakistan has a very rich culture because of its multi ethnicity various groups of people are found here. There are multiple languages spoke in this region including Sindhi, Balauchi, Punjabi and Pashto. The official language of Pakistan is however URDU. Urdu is widely spoken all over the country and it is supposed to be a universal tool of communication inside Pakistan.

Pakistan achieved many goals throughout its tenure. Pakistan is the only Islamic country that posses Nuclear Weapons, which were purely homemade. Despite of its progress Pakistan faced many challenges from inside and outside the country.

First time it face a huge blow from its neighboring country India in 1948 when Indian forces illegally occupied a major part of Kashmir which is still a disputed territory. Since after that India again hit Pakistan on 5th December 1965 when Indian forces cross Pakistani Borders. India army faces a huge defeat though but again in 1972 they cut a very important part of Pakistan knowing West Pakistan or Bengal. A new country Bangladesh was formed due to this act.
