The new publication tools are awesome, but I have some questions…

Hey Your Friends @ Medium and elizabeth tobey, you guys really knocked it out of the park with the publication tools that were released earlier this week. They’re kind of awesome and really expand the functionality of Medium for publications. You really crushed it!

As I have been playing with the new tools (toys) for my Happiness Weekly publication I have come across a few questions that hopefully you can help me out with:

  1. The new navigation options atop the publication are great, however I hate having to shave one of the three allotted tags per story in order to utilize it. Is it possible to have a fourth, publication only, tag that is used for the purposes of publication navigation? This way the writers can put three tags on their story for discovery and I, as the publication owner, can add one additional for the purpose of navigation.
  2. All of the customization points for the publications are great, but can I ask for one more? Begin able to set a publication specific divider would be cool. So instead of the three dots HR element, I could substitute a small graphical element that would automatically replace within the publication.
  3. The new publication stats are awesome and seeing all of the data together is extremely welcomed. There is a slight bug where I have to reload the stats page every visit in order to see the overview page, but that’s a slight nuance. But I do wonder, do my visits to pages within the publication count towards the publication stats? My guess is they do, but I’m curious if playing with formatting on stories spikes the read time. And while we’re talking about stats, is there anyway to get referer data for the main publication page? I’d love to be able to see how people come to the publication itself.
  4. Finally, and this isn’t much a question as it is a wish and a hope, it would be amazing if some of these new layout tools found their way to profile pages. I know you all have mentioned that revamping profiles is on the roadmap and it would be wonderful to see some of these options spill over.

That’s all I’ve got. You guys really killed it with this Medium 2.5 (seems fitting) and I can’t wait to see what you all come up with next. Thank you for letting me take a moment of your time for my silly ideas and questions.
