Apparently more stories are coming to light about the history of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse at the Masters Chambers.

A tattoo, alluding to Masters Chambers, that I gave myself in hopes that it would help me stop going back to him. It didn’t and he made a joke of it often.

I came out about my own experience in December of 2016 after 2+ years of being associated with that space and the person who started it all.

I’m very thankful for those who now feel empowered to speak out. I was hoping, all that time ago, that my story would help stop other women from experiencing what I experienced, but obviously that wasn’t the case. I’m…

Sculptures at Wat Bang Phra

Although many pieces of pop culture, film and otherwise, have painted Bangkok as a place to get black out drunk and fondle young females, there is much to enjoy beyond this sad reduction of a culture. Thailand not only has culinary arts that delight with spice, it also has gorgeous islands that stun, enthralling architecture and folk arts, as well as a wealth of spirituality that is not readily found anywhere else. For many Buddhists, Hindus, and beyond, Thailand can be an epicenter of incredible temples, enlightened awakenings, and warm communities.

During dinner one night at the Bangkok-based hostel, the…

Save My Ink and Dr. Masaichi Fukushi

For most of us our tattoos mean a great deal. They are depictions of our greatest loves, they are moments and memories encapsulated. It’s not just time and money we have devoted to the ink on our bodies…for some, the art they carry on their skin through this lifetime is indicative of their passion and their commitment…like literally wearing your heart on your sleeve.

So, it’s an interesting thought: if we spend so much time, money, sweat, and soul on our tattoos, isn’t it a shame to let them die with us? …

Painting by Alex Merritt at Booth Gallery

TONIGHT: Friday, May 17, 2019

6PM-9PM at Booth Gallery: The Stranger — Alex Merritt Solo Show

Haunting and evocative, the smudges of color and thick encrusted layers of Alex Merritt’s paintings hint at desolation; ethereal portraits and barren landscapes each made with an amaranthine depth. And though the human forms may be abstract, the emotive capabilities of his work are exact. The guttural screams, grunts of agony and whispers of abject despair are perfectly depicted in an Auerbachian mania of oil chunks and charcoal scratches.

Booth Gallery and Last Rites Gallery have been spaces where art transcends any particular medium…

A Peace in Process by UN1TY: Jo Harrison and Hanumantra — Film company: SMN Film

In an effort to capture the beauty and process of tattooing, Jo Harrison and Hanumantra of UN1TY documented a back tattoo collaboration.

Film is an amalgamation of every art form. It can capture concepts, imbue beauty, and express experience…and this is part of what Jo Harrison and Hanumantra of UN1TY have done with their new documentary. With the hopes of illustrating the importance of the actual tattooing event itself, as well as the process of collaboration, they created a film that embodies their working philosophies.

With agencies in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Miami, TJ is a non-binary tattoo model who is a positive and supportive force within the tattoo and queer community.

Two days ago a heart breaking photo of TJ on a gurney was posted by their partner, Macy Sorrelle, saying, “This morning my lover TJ was involved in a severe motorcycle crash. TJ’s left leg, that has been previously broken, is broken again. TJ’s knee is crushed, they have fractures in their bones, and they were bleeding from their arteries. Because their leg has been previously broken and now has…

Painting by Chris Guest

There is definitely no summertime sadness here. Although Chris Guest may be based in the UK, his paintings are like the best parts of Los Angeles summers: hot babes with tattoos, popsicles, and pool toys…each depicted with that sexy sunshine glow.

Guest’s paintings have been exhibited at tattoo conventions, most recently the London Tattoo Convention, he’s hosted oil painting workshops at tattoo studios, his work has even been made into tattoos. His portfolio is a perfect example of when tattoo culture collides in the best kind of way.

In this interview with the revered pop painter Chris Guest talks about…

Hardcore tattoo aficionados may turn their nose up at these temporary tattoos, but they’re far from being merely trendy; they’ve become an art form all their own. Make-up artists are using them for their stunning makeovers and photo shoots, starlets are bedecking themselves with fake flowers and glittering flash, and even toddlers are getting high quality tats from legendary tattoo artists like Tim Hendricks! Dollar store digs and 25 cent gum-ball machines have nothing on these fine art faux tats.
