Great article! ;) I agree that the future of marketing isn’t forms and great marketing definitely takes effort. But I’ve got thoughts on the other points:

  1. On taking a risk & making first impression — gated content shouldn’t be a total top of the funnel play where you attract interest in. If a marketer isn’t already producing great ungated content, creating gated content is setting up for trouble.
  2. SEO —there isn’t really any data on how SEO can be better for ungated content. SEO depends on a bunch of stuff with backlinks & domain authority being the 2 major determinants.
  3. Bad leads — for an inbound playbook, where volume is key, getting bad leads is inevitable. The levers to pull here should be lead scoring and further qualification processes.
