What is Cloud Storage? ☁️
Cloud storage is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to host your static and dynamic websites nowadays. Amazon, Google, and Microsoft are the top providers of cloud storage. They offer free tier pricing for their products that will be sufficient enough to meet the needs of your website especially if you’re just starting out.
Setting Up ⚙
- You need to have an account on Google with your payment information on hand because of the registration requirement and preferably a domain name that you own.

- Before anything else, have your domain verified by going to Google Webmaster Central and adding your domain as your property.

Connect your Domain 🏠
I’ll be using GoDaddy to connect my website to a domain. You can use your domain registrar to complete this step because of the similarity in the process.
- Go to your Domain DNS Management
- Create a CNAME alias that points to c.storage.googleapis.com.

- Save your settings.
Uploading to Cloud 🚀
- Go to your Google Cloud Console and create a project.
- Click the left-hand side navigation bar and select Storage under Storage

- On browser, create a bucket that will serve as a repository of your website files.

- Pick a name (must be the same name as your domain or subdomain name), choose multi-regional, and set United States as your location.

- Once it’s created, upload your folders inside the folder including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files.

- Set the individual files to be shared publicly using the button on the top navigation panel to give others permission to view your website.

- Edit your website configuration by going back to your bucket homepage

- Set your homepage and 404 page.

- Type in your domain and hope it shows up
