My Favorite Things…Whilst Stoned
7 Activities I enjoy after an edible

Pot is awesome. We all agree. I know it’s not legal everywhere, but that’s just because of a myriad of economic, political, and pseudo-moral reasons that everyone needs to chill out about (seriously, have a brownie).
Over the past year I’ve explored the alternate reality of being stoned and have put together a list of activities that I really enjoy after eating an edible. Some of these are just fun and pleasant while others have been profound and life-changing. Reference this list the next time you take a ride with Ms. Mary Jane.
1. Watch Anime
So beautiful. SO MIND-BLOWINGLY BEAUTIFUL. I like anime in general, but add some marijuana in the mix and suddenly I can look past the obligatory zany characters and confusing plot lines to simply enjoy the amazing action. I once watched every fight scene from Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood and was in awe of all the impossible leaps, dodges, and strikes…and was moved to tears over the characters struggles and heroic feats.
2. Eat! Everything!
The munchies are one of my favorite parts of being high. Mac n’ cheese, chicken tikka masala, chocolate ice cream—anything sweet—are all heavenly treats that explode in your mouth like the Fourth of July. The first time I had soul food after a brownie it took me about 45 minutes to slowly ravish every tasty bite.
3. Revel in the glory of nature
Sun-soaked beaches, dense green forests, snow flurries in the city—nature sings her beautiful song to you! A simple walk becomes a journey of discovery and marvel. The details of a spiderweb or the way rain drips from a tree cause me to pause and consider the interconnectedness of the universe and my place in everything.
4. Create
Art, music, stories, new theories of reality…any creative endeavor gains a new perspective when I’m stoned. It’s not that pot creates, but rather being high gives me a new point of view and suddenly I’m considering ideas that never entered my mind before.
5. Open the doors in my mind to the past
Whatever the science behind pot+memory, it is amazing. Not only do I remember places, people, and events long left dormant in my mind, but I see these memories through the eyes of the present. Who I am today is built on my experiences as a child/young adult, so being able to go back in time and observe this formative process gives me so much insight and appreciation of my past as well as my present.
6. Recognize and heal old wounds
Along with this remembering comes the opportunity to examine ingrained beliefs about who I am and why I feel this way. YOU WOULD BE AMAZED AT WHAT LIES BENEATH. Being stoned helps to open my subconscious and recognize places I need to forgive and love. A decade of malice and frustration with my family was healed through an afternoon in the park with an edible.
7. Cuddle
Everyone would benefit from more cuddles, the pot just facilitates the affirming snuggling better.
So there you have it, a few of the wonderful ways pot makes my life better. I truly hope attitudes about marijuana keeping changing so more people can have access to these delights.
