As a developer married to someone in the military (and therefore unable to move at-will) it’s been frustrating to watch the pendulum swing back away from companies considering remote workers. There’s lot of talent available that can’t, or doesn’t want to, live in one of the handful of the most crowded, expensive cities in the world. Building successful remote teams IS a different sort of management problem — but it’s aggravating to hear companies moan about a lack of available people when I know there are tons of us waiting in the wings if companies just be a little more flexible.
