New Facebook Pages are coming!
Are you ready for the big update?
From time to time Facebook makes changes to the layout and design of features that we become accustomed to (and rely upon every day). These changes are often met by disgruntled users, as they fumble through updated layouts, and express their frustration in an endless stream of complaints in the days following the update.
If you know this feeling well and can relate, get ready for the onslaught once again, because today Facebook announced some major changes in the layout of Pages when viewed on the desktop.
Going forward, Pages will now display all posted content in a single column. This means that for the first time, all posts will appear identically in news-feeds as they do on the page.
The left side column displays your map, your hours of business, phone number and website URL, as well as photos and videos. If you’re logged in as an administrator, this section of the page will provide a small admin dashboard above the consumer facing content.
‘Pages to watch’ also now appears to be a more robust feature that functions within the Insights dashboard, and is finally being rolled out to all users.
While the changes do not appear to be substantial, there will growing pains for Community Managers. Fortunately for all of us, at this stage Facebook have not announced any algorithm changes that will impact organic reach.
