“Investing in independent, critical media and a strong, just democratic state.” is the one-sentence summary of what the Stichting (Foundation) stands for and has always stood for.

Originally Stichting Democratie en Media was called Stichting Het Parool: A Dutch newspaper illegally published during the second world war by the Resistance and still exists today as Het Parool. (Read the entire history here.)

The spirit of the important history remains in the new logo.

This is the original logo of (Stichting) Het Parool

In 2003 the foundation changes its name. The new logo keeps the two O’s from the original Het-Parool-logo.

Our final and new design puts the O’s more prominent and ads a symbolic touch by giving them both a different color. Representing the overlap between Democracy and Media.
