Interesting thoughts and reflections Shelton Davis. This topic is challenging and requires many perspectives in order to fully understand the essence of it. Feedback like yours is really valuable in this regard. Thanks!

Some comments and reflections from my side:

  • “A Future Without Choice” sounds terrifying: For some people it is terrifying but it will also be the promised land for others. Here’s where my consideration about control taps in. People should have the ability to control their desired level of automation.
  • About the A.D. actors, it is more about how they collaborate with each other. IoT has less impact if algorithms cannot make sense out of the data, and without a good UX, user’s are less adaptive in using these services. That is why I believe that a good alignment is a prerequisite.
  • About design principles, Joeri de Graaf shared an interesting article in with me from FastCoDesign. It is about the proposed (product)design principles in the age of AI by Yves Behar. He taps more into meaning behind design and how it relates to users. “Older” design principles form an important fundament but I personally believe more principles are needed.
