What were you doing at 11 years old?

The one question that can provide clarity.

If you were anything like me, you were probably having a blast with friends.

Playing sports, on the playground, maybe video games… Personally I was riding skateboards.

I started loving the accessories and lifestyle around it and used my board as a small piece of art when I would put a custom design on the grip tape side of the board.

I was changing the designed every week, and my friends started asking me to do theirs.

Soon enough, neighborhood kids were bringing me boards and paying to make it look cool.

As I’ve gotten older, I’m still having a blast with friends, but very little skateboarding.

But, I still find myself trying to bring value to the world. Instead of skateboards, I’m helping people build and live their vision.

I don’t see much difference, personally.

I’m still just doing what’s natural to me, because what excites me is the exact same: Seeing the end result WOW people.

When you love your work, even setbacks are something to look forward to because it means you’re learning. [ Tweet This ]

Doing What Comes Naturally

When you’re young, the only things that stand out to you are the ones that truly interest you — and touch you on a deeper level..

Some kids are into trading cards. Others into toys. Some sell fireworks (me)… And a few of them even like helping others.

We go through phases in our childhood and they become our lives, because we know no better than to just be ourselves.

Staying In-Line With Your Life’s Purpose

Some of us get lost growing up. I mean, we’re told from day one what we’re supposed to do: go to school, graduate college, get a job, get married… You see where this is leading.

We (and I mean ‘I’) get away from our younger-selves as we layer on life’s complexities and expectations.

Because for most of us, our childhood dream doesn’t put food on the table…

But, could that be simply because our older-selves never got to take a stab at it?

Somewhere deep down in all of us is a childhood dream we never cashed-in on. An idea or talent that came so natural to us, until is was stripped away by a decided society.

So, I naturally have a question for you:

What were you doing at age 11?

I’d personally love to know: are you still chasing a part of that dream that you discovered as a child?

Or or if you’ve gone down a different route and still found yourself?
