I haven’t read all the comments, so I don’t know if it’s been said, but… What if by more African Americans playing Pokemon Go, it normalizes a positive experience between police and African Americans which will ultimately outweigh the negative experiences police encounter?

Crime still needs to be reduced in the community through the polices you mentioned, non-violent drug law reform, prison reform, education and employment reform, community infrastructure, all the things which lead someone in poverty to crime. And police need training reform, and a reform from the current victim culture which encourages cops to operate on fear rather than de-escalating situations. These things must improve.

But even with crime at it’s current rate, and cops as afraid as they are, an abundance of positive police interactions can only over shadow the bad ones.
