Letter to the new CIHR president

Good ideas, but politically very difficult - if not impossible, due to process. I didn’t see why CIHR decided to announce the next granting schemes just before the budget. Smacked of locking in a broken system, no matter what. Still, something drastic needs doing now. We have spent too much energy trying to fix an inherently flawed system. There needs to be a recognition of the dire problems and new solutions that do not just paper over the cracks in the foundation (pun intended). Rod McInnes has been given authority for change but his options for navigation are limited unless the whole health research community comes together and sends a message that we’re willing to help find a real solution going forward.

A single golf clap? Or a long standing ovation?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
