Life (Cut-Up Poem)
A sad late afternoon in winter, wind sweeps with relentless rain
Walking near the oceanfront, I had the realization:
Life is the wave, up and down, high and low, climbing and plunging
But, to which place is this wave heading?
It is also the Island, off the shore, and storm-wrecked
Distance from the towns and cities, with no neighbours
A friend coming yesterday, but today, many go.
Brilliant, extraordinary: hazard dream!
Scorching is this winter!
