Is your Fairytale online?

Fairytales usually start with “Will you marry me?”, and soon, head into courtship and run-to-the-wedding phases! Pretty and Happy. (of course, if you say “Yes” :D)

I have a friend who’s taking the plunge quite soon. While our usual chatter is packed with wedding dress, decor, jewelry talks, there’s notable focus on “What goes on social media?”. I am truly astounded by the obvious presence of Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, in our life and celebrations. Everyone is shooting to “look like a star” on the internet.

Wedding is an absolutely personal affair for me. I might be okay updating my status on special events, but — sharing every moment with the web, is a complete No No! #JustMyOpinion

Most of my friends go like -

a. ‘Grab some limelight, it’s your D-Day’;

b. ‘Do it in style, let the world know’;

c. ‘Make your moments memorable, get some love!’;

d. ‘Feels special, why not’ and, many more..

and, I keep wondering, “Is social media a scorecard for my celebration?”

Does internet help you savor a moment longer? OR, Is it more intrusive than not? What’s your story?
