My name is Jonah Young and I am a junior Journalism major at Kent State University. One would probably assume from above that I have a relationship with God and the Bible, which is the most important part of who I am. The reason I chose to take this picture for this assignment is because this verse is a big part of my life. It says “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” I find that there is not enough love in this world, and that often times people are more comfortable with hate. I just try my best to live my life according to this verse.

My goal as a photographer is to do some sports photography. I have loved sports my whole life, and I would love to start capturing different moments in sports history. I would also like to do some sports journalism, perhaps take pictures at the game, and then go write articles to go along with my pictures later on.

The biggest influence in my life is my grandfather. He’s not only a good photographer, but he also is a good person. He has shown me how to live a good life and be successful. But most importantly, he has shown me how to be the best version of myself that I can be, no matter what people think.

One professional photographer that inspires me to keep going is Neil Leifer. He is a legend in the sports photography world. As I look more at his pictures I can tell that he had a passion for sports photography, and he is due credit for some of the best sports photos of all time. Of course his most famous is probably Muhammad Ali standing over Sonny Liston. He is what I want to be as a sports photographer.
