MXenes are transition metal carbides that can be synthesized as two-dimensional sheets. The more widely known 2D material, graphene, is beginning to enjoy commercial usage in a number of fields, including composite materials and energy storage. MXenes, although much earlier in their life cycle, hold similar promise.

ArgoPond’s Managing Director John Younger is a co-founder and founding CSO/CTO of Akadeum Life Sciences, the company that commercialized buoyant glass microbubbles for analyte enrichment in research, clinical, and environmental applications.

John’s experience is in reducing Akadeum’s technology to practice, performing the market and customer analysis needed to create revenue, and drawing venture capital to Akadeum’s vision for a powerful new means of enriching high-value cell sorting. As such, the MXene Global Conference organizers looked to him to moderate their panel on commercialization and financing challenges for early stage material science companies.

The entire panel discussion is included here.
