#PRT Wicked Sexy Liar by Christina Lauren

Wicked Sexy Liar by Chistina Lauren

After a few heavy/emotional fiction and non-fiction reads over the past few weeks, I wanted something light and fun. And “Wicked Sexy Liar” seemed to fit the bill.

It’s a simple “boy meets girl” story but the characters themselves are not the romanticized simpletons we’re used to from Mills & Boon. The characters’ past relationships have left indelible impressions on their outlook towards life. And that’s the crux of the friction between the leads.

London and Luke are strangers despite studying at the same college and moving in the same group of friends. Both have contrasting reactions to the failure of their ‘first love’ — London stays away from men and Luke just can’t get enough of women!

Their first meeting at a bar where London is the bartender is funny. She keeps telling herself that she’s not going to have anything to do with him. Fat chance!

As we progress through their one night stand that turns into more, the authors shed a lot of light into the roller coaster of emotions that both the leads go through — Fear, Anger, Happiness, Love and Lust.

That they have a connection is undeniable. But so is the fact that Luke is London’s friend Mia’s ex! And that brings in the ‘Girl Code’…

“Thy shall not hit on your girl friend’s ex!”

And even after that issue is resolved, there is a leap of faith that London has to take to get into a steady relationship. In contrast, Luke recognizes what he is feeling and that he is changing for the better — pretty early on.

Though there is a certain amount of romanticization, it’s expected and tender. And it’s surprisingly easy to like this book — the story, the characters and authors’ way of bringing minute emotions to life!

It takes a lot of effort to emote through the written word and Christina Lauren are pros at this. Every word, every sentence eggs you on to the next one, and this forced me to read the book in one sitting. Un-put-down-able and lots of fun!
