Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is a board of Education in India for public and private schools, controlled and managed by Union Government of India.

State Board

State Board is a board of Education in India for public and private schools which is controlled and managed by the state Government.

CBSE vs State Board: Basic Differences!

CBSE is centralized across the country. The curriculum of this board is standard throughout the nation. State Board on the other hand have different education system for each state of India.

So, for a student studying in the same state it’s advantageous to study in the state board as they know their state’s education system.

CBSE has friendlier curriculum and course structure which make parents and students prefer CBSE over State Board. CBSE’s study module is most interactive and does not put lot of pressure on their students.

On the other hand, if we talk about State Board they does not give that much importance to critical thinking instead they promote rote learning.

CBSE vs State Board: Syllabus Difference!

CBSE Syllabus is tough when compared to the State Board. But you have advantage of studying in CBSE School rather than in state board school. As the exams like IIT JEE and NEET are conducted by CBSE so you will have the basic knowledge to crack these exams.

But when it comes to State Board, every state has it’s own Education System. So, it’s difficult for the students in state board to crack these exams. State Board curriculum prefer rote learning instead of application and critical thinking.

In CBSE, you study science, maths and application based subjects. The mode of instruction in CBSE is English and Hindi.

While in State Board, it gives preference to the regional languages, culture and state level topics. Mode of instruction in state board is English and regional languages.

CBSE vs State Board: Extracurricular Activities!

Extracurricular activities depends on the school. But yes, most of the CBSE Schools do give a lot of importance to these activities. In fact, CBSE Schools are way better than any board schools in terms of these activities.

State Board schools on the other hand gives less importance to these activities. This again varies from school to school. Some gives importance and some not.

CBSE vs State Board: Difference Between their Teachers!

As seen teachers in CBSE schools are better than teachers in State schools. But in the few years the quality of the teacher in both the boards have gone down as most of the youngsters preferring IT and other jobs. There they get high salary package which is better that what in teaching.

So, currently both boards of Education don’t have that quality teachers as they earlier had.
