“I don’t believe in throwing out your friends just because they make mistakes.” The glaring problem that everyone is repeating and what Danny highlighted in this fantastic piece is that your friends won’t admit to their horrific mistakes, and by lawyering up and throwing money at the problem, they expect it get away with it and go on, biz as usual. Ellen Pao was brave enough to deny any settlements and financial carrots to keep quiet, and now the truth of her story and the tech industry has been told and read. Having grown up in Cupertino and spent a good amount of my tech and marketing career in SV, I am profoundly grateful for her and others that speak out. Making mistakes is human. Admitting and learning from them takes another set of human skills that many, unfortunately, do not currently possess.
