Thank you for you comment and question Ben Hersh. The point that I am trying to make is this. That the desire for simplicity (meaning “the quality of being plain, without unnecessary or extra things or decorations:”) seems to originate from the design community as an answer to non-designers’ (aka. clients’) wish for simplicity (meaning “the quality of being easy to understand or do”). That is what I mean when i state that “the misuse and misinterpretation of the true meaning of the word has spurred many long discussions”. The thing is, that simplicity in the visual and artsy kind of way has nothing to do with usability, i.e. efficiency, effectiveness and satisfaction. We need to focus on usability in stead of simplicity to ensure good UX and good communication and understanding between designers and non-designers.
I hope this answers your question? Otherwise, I look forward to e-hearing from you again so that we can continue the conversation :)
