Most people have this favorite place they go to when they are down and out or beaten down by the hustles of life. For some it is a special place in their home, this could be their bedroom, living room, garden, or some other place.

Some have a favorite place outside their home, such as their favorite bar/restaurant, or church.

It is my candid opinion that we all must have a special place where we go, where God can meet with us.

After Isaac struggled at the wells of Quarrel and Enmity, he got to the well of Freedom, where the Lord gave him room to prosper. From there, he left for his favorite place:

Isaac left and went to Beersheba. (Genesis 26:23)

Beersheba is the place of a well, where his father, Abraham made a treaty/vow with Abimelech, the king of the Philistines. There was a struggle between the Philistine people and Abraham, over a well he had dug.

Abraham told the king to accept seven lambs from him and he informed the king, that by doing that, he was entering into an agreement where he would accept the truth that Abraham dug that well. And so the place was called Beersheba because it was there that two of them made a vow. (Genesis 21:30-31)

Beersheba is a favourite place, because there is no contention/fight there, and God is there. It is a place of covenant and vows.

After that, Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba and worshiped the Lord, the Everlasting God. Abraham lived in Philistia for a long time. (Genesis 33–34)

Beersheba is that favorite place, when Isaac went there, God appeared to him:

That night the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid; I am with you. I will bless you and give you many descendants because I have promised my servant Abraham.” (Genesis 26:24)

We must all find that favorite spot, which we call Beersheba. We worship and call on God at Beersheba, and the Lord appears to us.

Isaac built an altar there(Beersheba) and worshiped the Lord. Then he set up his camp there, and his servants dug another well. (Genesis 26:25)

Come with me and let’s go to Beersheba. It can be your favorite place too. At Beersheba, we raise an altar, we worship God, and we stay in camp to pray. When you set up your camp at Beersheba, you wait upon the Lord and share with him deep things in your heart. Isaac did that, and his servants dug another well.

In the same way, we will receive answers to our prayers and find new dreams and opportunities as we engage with the Lord in prayer at Beersheba.
