I think some of these boys are afraid of being seen as the fetishizing type, even if that is not a (conscious) factor in their attraction to a black girl. You also touched on this in #3, with the fear of being looked down on, but I believe it can also be a fear of being seen as/feeling like(forgive my bluntness) a raping, slave-owning villainous white man. (White Guilt: It’s a Hell of a Drug.) From my experience with white men, and men in general, how they are perceived based on their partner is absolutely a real concern that they wrestle with, even when they don’t want it to matter (or claim that it doesn’t matter).
