The things & various aspects I learnt about Law of Marketing in week 2 assignment of my internship program in DDIP.

I am going to talk about what I have learned about the Law of Marketing. This article is going to help digital marketers, bloggers & content writers.

1. The Fundamentals of Marketing

Marketing is all about communication.

The better you understand your prospects in a deeper way the better you provide solutions to them. Marketing is the right message, to the right person at the right time with great offer. You can give better clarity through your communication.

There is great quote by Mr. Peter Drucker who says,

The aim of marketing is to know & understand the customer so well the product or a service fits him & sells itself… The aim of marketing is to make selling superfluous.

Marketing is connecting your prospective customers through traditional & digital mediums to educate, engage & sale.

Marketing is all about perception.

Marketing is the art & science of promoting a product or a service through various mediums like traditional and digital.

A product converts your customer into a brand ambassador, word of mouth publicity / news and mouth marketing is the best channel of marketing ever.

Marketing starts before a product or a service, after doing market research.

Like for example.

What problem or problems are you going to solve through your product or service?

How many people are facing the same problem?

How many competitors are there in the same product or service category?

How can you provide a product or a service differently?

2. Digital Marketing vs. Traditional Marketing

Even though digital marketing is so powerful than traditional marketing because it is targeted, specific, measurable and scalable. Some of the traditional marketing channels are so effective.

  1. TV ads :

If a product is generic with a very wide targeting TV can reach millions at a low cost.

TV commercials are typically 30 seconds long.

TV is remarkably effective.

Consumers are 11 times more likely to search for a product if they have seen it on TV ads rather than online & enquire about in shops for purchase.

TV ads are reported to be responsible for as much as 72% of all brand awareness.

2. Radio ads :

There are four major types of radio advertising, namely straight commercials, dialogue commercials, dramatized commercials & integrated commercials.

Radio has a reach of 65% of Indian population ( Source : Financial Express)

3. Newspaper ads:

Newspapers have a reach of 465 millions people.

Most Indian people start their day with newspapers along with tea.

Newspaper ads best suited for local classifieds.

Many brands use newspapers for advertisement & branding of their products.

(Examples : Apple iPhones, Tata motors, Maruti & Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra etc.)

2. Hoardings & kiosks

The best way to reach the highest target audience is hoarding. Hoarding allows you to reach people of all genders, age groups, and class. It especially ensures that you capture the attention of the middle class and the upper class (since this is where the majority of consumers lie on the spectrum).

My personal work experience.

To start, let me share with you my first marketing job experience with you.

I was following an exact digital marketing model to some extent in the traditional field marketing job.

My aim of marketing was to generate revenue for my organization by doing activities like lead generation from field work (Free Lead Generation) & Society camp organization (Paid Lead Generation).

In field work, I & Our executives were working on the field with a free car washing coupon (lead magnet) distribution with a small sales pitch.

The cold calling was happening automatically where we were pitching the customers about our features, advantages & benefits of our services & asking for filling in the details for getting a free car washing coupon in return. (Details like Name, Contact number & Address of the customer)

When the customers were turning up at the car service dealer, our customer care executive used to take care of the customers further for the car’s preventive maintenance, running repairs, body shop paintings, insurance & other services & add on.

Society Camp Organization, I was searching for potential societies to organize paid society events.

3 to 4 days before the society camp I & our executives were pinning our detailed banner & service camp notice on each wing’s notice board of the society (After getting permission from the society), people could know about the service camp in advance.

Then at 10 am sharp on the event day we were ready with our tent & with all the tools & equipment.

Our team included 2 Technicians, a Car washing guy, Road tester & our marketing team.

It was a 2 day event on Saturday & Sunday events where I & our executives were going to visit the potential customers’ home & we were explaining our offer, & that offer was “ Free 50 points car check up plus dry wash of the car”

For this offer customers were able to come visit the camp & get their car checked up in turn giving us their contact details and additional work also like for example scheduling an appointment for service, Insurance renewal etc.

This way we were able to scale up our revenues by doing these activities and I was able to grow my conversion from 10% to 22%.

In this actual work experience I learnt following:

  • How to do cold calling in field work like we write cold emails in digital marketing.
  • Lead Generation — Free & Paid.
  • Building trust with the customers by relationship & care.
  • Generating sales & revenue for the organization by converting leads into customers.

Advantages of Digital Marketing are as follows:

  1. Digital Marketing is more effective than traditional marketing because the effort we put forth is Specific, Scalable, Measurable, Target based.

2. Through Digital Marketing you can personalize the communication, you can do deep marketing & direct response marketing.

Disadvantages of traditional marketing are as follows:

  1. You can not do deep marketing with traditional marketing.
  2. You can not do natural sales
  3. You can not personalize the communications

3. CATT Marketing Funnel & Framework.

Wealth = n^CATT

n stands for niche. Niche is your subject.

Your wealth & success depends on your niche you choose.

There are lots of niches in the digital marketplace. You have to choose one applying talent, passion & market formula then it can become your own lucrative niche.

n = niche is your topic or subject you choose based on a combination of Talent, Passion & Market.

Your wealth & success depends on the niche you select & serve a hungry market.

To pick a lucrative niche it must be a combination of Talent, Market & Passion.

Talent is a natural aptitude or skill.

Market is a marketplace for people where buying & selling happens.

Market is nothing but a regular gathering of people for the purchase & sale of provisions, livestock and other commodities.

Passion is a strong feeling or emotion.

If you have the talent & passion of drawing a painting but not in a professional way and that don’t have a market then it becomes your hobby.

If you have both talent & market for your painting but you don’t have passion then the painting you have drawn will not come from your strong feeling or emotion.

If you have both passion & market for drawing a painting but you lack in talent then that painting does not come from your natural aptitude or skill. It will not congruent with you.

Conclusion:

Choosing a niche is to combine all three ingredients Talent, Passion & Market to some or great extent to get lucrative output and that is wealth and success.

If you have any 2 things then you can learn & develop the remaining 1 thing.

C = Content

What is content?

Content is any kind of information that can educate, entertain, inform, persuade, engage a set of audience to take a specific action.

And content can be of Notes, Blog post, Videos, lead magnets, live webinars and Podcasts through which you can add value to the audience & solve your target audience’s problems.

Content is king.

If you craft your content keeping your audience’s problem or solution in mind, then it is bound to be king of your content.

The quality, relevancy & value addition of your content can lead to huge success in your business.

A = Attention

What is attention?

Attention is priceless.

Attention is the people who actively listens, reads, watches & hears.

Here in this blueprint we call attention is equal to traffic.

Drive traffic to your website, landing page etc. through SEO, Social Media, Paid Ads & Referrals.

To convert & sell you need huge numbers of raw materials.

Your raw material is your volume of your leads.

T = Trust

Adding value through your content & taking care of your audience on a regular basis helps build your trust & authority in the marketplace.

Example of trust building webinar, lead magnets, useful insights, some hacks shared through YouTube etc.

T = Transaction

Convert your lead into customers with natural sales methods. After building trust and authority in the marketplace through useful & quality content then you can also make transactions while doing a value added webinar also.

You can also make transactions happen by doing retargeting marketing activities.

4. Integrated Digital Marketing

There are 7 most powerful modules in Digital Marketing namely 1. Content Marketing 2. Search Engine Marketing (PPC Ads) 3. Search Engine Optimization (Organic Traffic Generation) 4.Social Media Marketing 5. Email Marketing 6. Affiliate Marketing 7. Mobile Marketing.

All these modules are very potent in itself & an Integrated Digital Marketing is all about using each module in a composite way so that they complement each other and we get a very lucrative and harmonious output.

The aim of Integrated Digital Marketing is using all modules simultaneously so that selling becomes easy.

Content Marketing : to add value to the marketplace there are 3 skill sets in content.

  1. Content Research Skill : In content research we do keyword research, find buzz words, go through the content available in the online & offline world.
  2. Content Creation Skill : Content creation is researching & going through the deep learning experience, elaborating keywords & buzzwords in detail.

Email Marketing : Email marketing is the best mode of communication in an online world.

Email marketing has 2 aims.

Aim 1. The aim of email marketing is to get your visitors to subscribe to your email list & then your visitor becomes your lead or subscriber.

Aim 2. To add value to your subscribers, retargeting them, selling & converting your leads into customers.

Paid Ads or PPC :

Paid ads are very useful for boosting your traffic & Sales.

But it is very important not to drive traffic to your product or service instead drive it to your lead magnet instead.

And lead magnet is a very useful component of building trust and authority in the marketplace.

Paid ads are supportive to beat the initial traffic resistance.

Paid ads should stop at some point because it requires huge cost due to bidding & competition.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) :

Search Engine Optimization is the process of optimizing a website through the lens of Google’s eyes & rank higher.

SEO is the process of taking steps to optimize a website or piece of content to rank higher on Google.

Google has its own algorithm for ranking websites according to quality content, relevancy, page load speed, backlinks, time spent on site, social sharing, plagiarism etc.

Google keeps updating their algorithm regularly.

Social Media Marketing :

Social media marketing is the use of social media platforms to promote & sell a product or a service.

You can add value through social media. You can share your content & drive traffic to your website or landing page.

Your social media followers are not your subscribers or customers.

Your email list is your real database or leads.

Sell & convert :

The effort we put forth in executing Integrated Digital Marketing should be making revenue by selling & converting the leads.

People remembers the brand better.

People hear & buy from people and not from brands.

And personal brands communicate & messages clearly in their industry or niche.

The disadvantage of a personal brand is that it can not be sold out or invested in because it is personal.

And the benefits of the personal brand is that it can start one or many brands.
