24 Days of Yoga, My Yoga Advent Calendar

The count down to Christmas is on.

On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me… one downward dog, two deep breaths, three minutes of mediation and 24 consecutive days of yoga??

That is right friends. I decided that I am going to count down the days until Santa comes with my favourite stress reliever and workout, YOGA!

Now you might be asking yourself why would she choose yoga over a chocolate calendar? I will admit that giving up chocolate isn’t the best decision I’ve made. However, my stress levels will be decreased immensely.

I decided that I was going to give this yoga count down a try because who wouldn’t love to just relax and enjoy the Christmas Season.

Christmas season is very busy stressful season. When you think of how much you have to do to get ready for Christmas does your blood pressure rise a little bit? Does your mind get a little foggy? Are you stressed the H E DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS out???? I sure am!

My goal for this year at Christmas is to sit back and relax. I do not want to be stressing about how I look, how clean my house is, does the food I bring taste okay, do my presents look Pinterest worthy?

Yoga is a wonderful tool for relieving stress. I am going to use yoga everyday for the next 22 days. Through these 22 days I will focus on three things through my practice

  1. My breath
  2. Stretching
  3. Myself.

Through focusing on these three priorities in my practice. I hope to have my anxiety and stress decreased. I hope my focus, compassion and composure will shine through.

In my mediation and yoga practice, previous to starting this yoga count down, I have noticed that my anxiety and stress have decreased. My acne had cleared substantially, I have lost weight and I have become 100% more confident in myself. This is the type of person I want my friends and family to see when we are sharing our time together over the holidays.

I would like to explain that this isn’t a challenge to do a new pose without stretching or that could possibly hurt you. This is just a count down to do yoga that you are comfortable doing, that positively pushes your mental and physical limits but will not put you in any risk.

Since money is tight during this time of year I will be doing a lot of yoga at home. If you have any recommendations of websites or videos to help guide me through my yoga practice. I would love to hear back from you.

I will keep you updated regarding how my count down is going and I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
