Cyberpunk 2077 : Release by mid 2019
Since the awesome Cyberpunk 2077 teaser trailer was launched in 2013, there has been crazy discussions amongst game enthusiasts about this so called next-gen true RPG. One of the main reason why gamers all around the world are eager to get their hands on this this game is because it’s being developed by none other than CDProjekt team who were quite recently considered as underdogs in game development but now seemed to have blessed our gaming souls with one hell of a game — Witcher 3: Wild hunt.
CDProjekt are well known for building hype for their upcoming games, this is not different for the Cyberpunk feature as well. There is very little that they are actually revealing about this game but I will share all that I know.
Adam Kicinski, CEO of CDP said in 2015 that “this year and the next one will be the year of the Witcher” meaning we probably might not be seeing this game fully developed anytime till 2017 or even 2018. Since the game teaser was released way back in 2013, some people do have some doubts about the game development process going through some tough changes hence delaying the release. Personally, I don’t mind waiting for an awesome game a little while longer rather than rushing into one resulting in a buggy, glitchy, unfinished piece like the infamous Mass Effect Andromeda first release.
Also very compelling to know that the CDProjekt has applied for a government grant to secure some funding possibly for the upcoming games being developed, the interesting fact here though is the deadline/timeline that was mentioned in the grant application for Cyberpunk project which was January 2016 — June 2019. Since we can definitely rule out any time till 2017, the game will most probably start surfacing by 2018 or latest by mid 2019.
By the way if you’re really curious about the Cyberpunk girl model, her name is Kasia Danysz, polish supermodel and a playmate at that. Talking a little bit more about the game and it’s teaser, I found a very descriptive elaborate designs of the concept, art, environmental layouts and sketches, 3D scanning sessions, modelling and the UI which is very informative to fans and can be found here.
Needless to say since the Witcher 3 turned out to be a brilliant game with an overall very good looking graphic and gameplay, Cyberpunk 2077 has to match if not be even better than its previous features. If this actually turns out to be true, it will become one of the best games ever developed and the respect CDP earned will only soar higher.
Even though it’s hard to believe any game could easily beat witcher, facts that I have just might prove that way. It is exciting to know that there are currently more developers working on Cyberpunk than those working on Witcher 3 then which could only mean good things in my opinion — better quality & meeting CDP’s expectation of “their most ambitious game developed so far”. Marcin Iwinski, co-founder of CDP also solidifies our trust by stating –
“We are known for storytelling and big game worlds and so we’re taking all what we have learnt from previous 3 witcher games, as well as the open-world aspect and applying it to Cyberpunk 2077”.
In August 2016, CDP posted a job listing for a Vehicle gameplay programmer to create the whole ingame architecture of vehicle related code and mechanics of driving/flying presumably for project Cyberpunk, which means there will be “flying ships” …. Wait a minute ! … I have definitely heard these words somewhere … that’s right … exactly! Weirdly enough in Witcher 3, Ciri says these exact words to Geralt describing to him another world that she had previously visited, she said –
“People there had metal in their heads, waged wars from a distance, using things similar to megascope … And there were no horses, everyone had their own flying ship instead”
Common Ciri, you don’t really expect us to believe it’s just a coincidence that you happened to mention a world exactly similar to one being developed in the future by your own creators .. do ya !? CDP very smartly planted an easter egg in Witcher 3 for their next big game release, simple as that. Let’s all just trust on CD Projekt red, whose games are definitely worth waiting for.
CDProjekt RED I believe is a game development company, for the gamers, by the gamers.
