Panel Report 3
Jeff’s projects that discussed the similarities and difference in different field of major. It is more about an data analysis. He believe that you need to first take an overview of data, and then peel the different layer to see raw data. English, ethics and history are found clustered in his research. It is when he said that the data needed to peel off influenced me. It remind me that when I was using tableau, I need to choose the group, subgroup or specific crime to see details. It Is also like peeling off the data. Therefore, only see the overview of a data is not enough, what you need to do is to dig up the raw information.
Kristine basically talks about the Arduino-based robot she has been prototyping. She order many different components and also play around with different code. It can be “Quick and dirty.” She is now working to improve the robert by adding more emotional eyes, different body, updated voice, and more variety of the responses. It also remind me of making the device in the last week’s class, when we were making the device we also try many different form to get the best results. I think it is very important to try, because you can see the different outcome and maybe think of more useful ideas.
Focus on the detail of the data and also be passion about doing the data analysis. Do not think that it is scary to work with so many numbers. And also think about the audience who will look at the data, will they understand the data easily? Or will they think the data is useful? For the prototype, like what I said, never afraid of trying new ideas.
