Getting Over Uber

I noticed this in San Francisco one day as I went to call for an Uber and found that my cell phone had no battery. No problem, I thought, I’ll just hale a taxi. Whoops…there are no taxis because they’re being pushed out by Uber.

The consequence of this means that, to get a taxi-like service (Uber, Lyft, etc), one must own a smart phone.

Think about that. You can’t just hale an Uber. A smart phone is a prerequisite. That’s awkwardly exclusive. :-/
